On May 29th, 2013 Wal-Mart posted a letter to its produce supply chain asking for Wal-Mart PTI compliance to the case level, with a tough deadline.
This has been a bit of a shocker to many as the letter states;
“Effective November 1, 2013, all fresh commodity produce delivered to a Wal-Mart Distribution Centre will be required to have standardized case labels, consistent with the PTI standards”
The letter also states that starting January 1st 2014, any items arriving without the correct labeling will be rejected.
This is a tough deadline for many suppliers to Wal-Mart but the good news is that SG Systems can help. The Wal-Mart PTI labeling standards can be produced by the SG systems software and this sample shows a label produced for a Wal-Mart supplier already.
The Wal-Mart PTI document is available here Wal-Mart Letter and SG Systems provides a unique solution which allows the labeling process to work with sliced products, mixed lots & existing inventory software.
